Greetings,
Thanks to you, Warm Wishes has had a very successful 1997 season. We had over 150 people get involved in one way or another this year.
On December 7th, hand out day, there were many emotional conversations all resulting in good feelings and sometimes tears from both the givers and the receivers. The experience can be very rewarding. Think about participating next year. Between all of us, we were able to warm the hands and feet of over 500 homeless people.
Now, just for a moment, STOP...realize that you had something to do with giving somebody less fortunate some good feelings, both physically and mentally in a time of need. Good job.
I would like to acknowledge some of my right-hand people from 1997. Our nonprofit status will be legitimate for next year thanks to Ernest Pinkerton who donated his legal services. Sue Tempest of Valley Promotions for again helping with the purchase or our special glove order. Eileen Egan of California Federal Bank, our Treasurer / Bookkeeper. Jaamy of the St. Francis, for coming in on his day off to help us get a great start on a very rainy day. Rebecca Shehan for our special reservations, and to Marsha Moore and the rest of the staff for the hospitality that was given to us at the St. Francis. Last but not least, Nina Barbalacci (my wife), who was a major contributor to our success, without her support it would be very difficult for me to pull this off as smoothly as it seems to be going. There are far too many people to mention so to those of you who also played a major role, you know who you are. Thank You.
We also honored three people with awards for, Warm Wishes, "Volunteer(s) of the Year 1997" they went beyond the call of duty. First award for the Marin / San Francisco Chapter went to Pat Davidor (my sister) of About Paper Plus for paper supplies, mailings, promotion and most funds raised. Second and third award(s) went to Jon and Carolyn Foust of the North Bay Association of Realtors who have taken on the responsibilities of our outside chapter in Sonoma County.
Our bank account is in the Black again and next year that means we will easily be at least 1,000 pairs of both gloves and socks and maybe wool caps. My goal is to try and double each year and with new outside chapters (locally and nationwide) and your help, I feel confident we can achieve our goals. Let me know if you have any interest for your area, we can help you get started, it's a nice way to stay close with family and friends, meet new people and do something meaningful that you can't put a price on.
Again, Thank You. We did it and we will continue to do it! Have a Happy New Year.
Warm Wishes,
